The House

Pickmere Country House is a Georgian grade ll listed building dating back to 1772. Originally built as a farmhouse, it was the largest of its kind in Cheshire and commands picturesque views over the surrounding countryside. We are situated in the centre of the village of Pickmere and the house is now a family-run small hotel. We are fully licenced and serve lunches and evening meals on request.

We brought our family up here (now all flown the nest) who loves to welcome guests. Pickmere Country House is a Georgian grade ll listed building dating back to 1772. We are a 30 minute drive from all that Cheshire has to offer from 11 National Trust properties, Chester Zoo, many lovely walks, shopping and great places to eat. We are fully licensed and serve meals on request.

Things To Do

The UK’s number 1 zoo, boasting an impressive 12000 animals and around 400 different species. Chester Zoo is a world renowned zoo with every changing activities and demonstrations as well as a constantly increasing roster of wildlife. Chester Zoo is open everyday from 10am with the exceptions of Christmas Day and Boxing Day. 

Another one for animal lovers of all ages. Knowsley Safari Park is one of the best Safari parks in the UK with an impressive array of animals. Knowsley also offer Birds of prey and sea lion displays as well as hands on animal experiences with GiraffeS, Meerkats, Big Cats, Elephants and Rhinos. Knowsley Sarafi Park is open everyday from 10am till 5:30pm.

Blue Planet Aquarium is perfect for a family day out. With a huge array of fish and other sea life, Blue Planet is boy entertaining and educational, with an array of talks and feeds throughout the day for all ages to get involved in. Blue Planet also offers an outdoor play area, an Otter enclosure and Swimming with Shark experiences. Blue planet is open every day, 10am to 5pm monday to friday and 10a, till 6pm at weekends.

An outdoors adventure for all ages. There are several tree top experiences for different ages, a child friendly one and a more challenging one for the older members of the family. As well as the tree top experiences, there are segway tours and zip-line courses as well as a children’s play area. They are closed during December and January and their opening times are dependant on what experience you want.

We accept adult, house-trained and well behaved dogs with responsible owners

Evening meals are served Monday to Thursday (except Bank Holiday Mondays) 18:00 – 19:30.  Lunches, afternoon teas and dinners by prior arrangement at weekends.

Yes, we serve wines from Tanners of Shrewsbury, local ales from The Tatton Brewery, Peroni, spirits and have a range of soft drinks

Guests may cancel by 10am 2 days prior to arrival free of charge, after that time we will charge for 1 nights stay except for Easter, Bank Holiday weekends, The Cheshire Show (June), The Tatton Flower Shower (July), Christmas and New Years Eve where we require 1 weeks notice of cancellation. For whole house bookings we require a 25% deposit at the time of booking and the balance 30 days before arrival.

Dogs must not be left alone in their rooms and can come into the guest sitting room, if other guests have no objections. There is a £8 charge per dog per night.

In the village there is a lovely lake, which is a 5 minute walk away. It takes about 45 minutes to walk around the lake. There are many other walks in the area, just a short drive away, including Neumann’s Flashes, Marbury Country Park, Delamere Forest, the Sandstone Trial and Teggs Nose in the Peak District

We have a large family room with a double, 2 single beds, a z-bed and 2 travel cots. Children under 2 are free of charge.

you can have a micro wedding (12 guests including yourselves) with a Celebrant. Otherwise, there are many venues nearby in which to get married including Great Budworth Church, Arley Hall, Tatton Park, The Oak Barn at Peover, Leicester Warren Hall in Knutsford and many others. We can accommodate you and your guests and can cater for pre-wedding dinners as well as micro wedding breakfasts.

The Garden Annex is on the ground floor, This room is not in the house, but is attached to it and situated along the terrace. The room can accommodate a wheelchair user. The bathroom has a walkin shower.
